Immunisations
It is important to keep up to date with your immunisations to avoid serious illnesses.
-
Childhood Immunisations - It’s important to make sure that your child has all of their routine childhood vaccinations. It’s the most effective way of keeping them protected against infectious diseases.
Ideally, children should have their vaccinations at the right age to protect them as early as possible and to minimise the risk of infection.
Your GP will be able to tell you what vaccinations children need. You can also find more information about children’s vaccinations and benefits on the Vaccinations page on the NHS website.
- Flu Vaccinations – We will invite you to attend for a flu immunisation. For more information and eligibility, please visit the Flu Influenza vaccine page on the NHS website.
Maternity
When you are pregnant you will receive regular care from your midwife before and after your baby is born.
Minor Surgery
The doctors are able to inject joints and remove some skin lumps. Talk to your GP for details.
Physiotherapy
A doctor may refer you to see a physiotherapist. They offer advice and treat problems with muscles or joints e.g. after an injury. There are usually 2 physiotherapists available for appointments, each patient is assessed and the need for follow up appointments is discussed. The PCT has a strict policy on discharging patients who fail to attend their initial or subsequent appointments. Each new problem requires a separate doctor’s referral.
Podiatry (foot care)
If you have a problem with your foot care, or an illness that can affect your feet, like diabetes, please contact the NHS Trust Office in Hartcliffe Health Centre Tel:0117 3015200. The office is here in the same building.
Community Clinics for lower leg wounds at the Withywood Centre
A weekly community clinic has been set up at the Withywood Centre for people with lower leg wounds. During the clinics, patients can receive compression therapy or other lower leg treatments, with support from our friendly nurses and volunteers, whilst enjoying a cup of tea and socialising with other people experiencing the same condition. To support the initiative, Bristol Ageing Better has commissioned Age UK Bristol to provide volunteer support and to arrange patient transport.
Patients can attend the clinic instead of their usual weekly appointment at the GP surgery. The clinic is being piloted for 12 months, beginningvApril 2017. It is organised by South Bristol Primary Care Collaborative and supported by Bristol Ageing Better.
The clinics take place every Thursday morning from 09.30am in the Withywood Centre. If you are interested in attending, please contact your GP practice nursing team to find out more.
